We as students from Weimar were asked to develop a new view onto the diverse and difficult theme “Gesamtkunstwerk”, throwing up new thoughts and challenging old concepts. As an introduction to the topic a 4-day workshop will take place in Weimar in the week of the 14th – 18th of July 2008, bringing together participants and ideas from all faculties. We are going to look into our own perception, tear apart the blown up concepts and phrases the Bauhaus is described with everyday and search for a description a bit closer to the truth of everyday life. What is it we identify with and that makes Weimar such a unique place to study? Step ahead and define a part of our future reception. After the workshop we push our ideas further and exhibit the whole collection in September 2008 at the gallery E105 and as part of the Bauhaus 09 anniversary in 2009.
